Re Visiting Margate

On this day Dignile and I travelled back to Margate to collect the water, sand, more shells and seaweed.

We managed to collect a lot of primary materials to work with when we get back to the studio. It was very exciting to go back again and experience Margate in another perspective – seeing the beauty of nature and immersing ourselves within.

Haeckles Shop Visit

We didn’t take photo’s out of respect when the woman was talking to us but managed to capture this photo which highlights the live moss and seaweed they maintain indoors. The moss needs to be watered three times a day in order to stay alive and healthy. The smell when you walk in was incredible it makes you feel relaxed and calm. Haeckles is a skin beauty shop that uses organic ingredients in their products.

Notes from woman’s information:

The seaweed is harvested between Turner and Walpole Bay, it is then dried in a space down the road in their laboratory space. Dried and used in different products.

Moss is a natural air-filter, which is watered three times a day

All packaging is decomposable (52-53weeks) can be buried in the garden used as compost.

Seaweed is filled with vitamins and anti-acids, works with the skin.

Fragrance, gone to a distiller and they are made from materials found. Dreamland fragrance, they took leather from an old ride and distilled it. (Can we use this in our structure? To have the essence of Dreamland)

This was inspired by Zaha Hadid and her use of geometry and the greenery is a touch of nature
