Finalising the Chair Design


At first, we had a clay idea where it was the main exterior with shell imprints but the next day the clay cracked so we had to re-think our idea. Instead of throwing away the cracked clay we decided to create a mosaic piece where we also included sand from Margate beach, woven rope, crushed shells and expanding foam.

Constructing the Chairs


Dingile and I were the two people working on the seats and constructing it in a way that was very stable to withstand different weights and heights. We used wood glue, screws and pin gun to make sure the chair was secure.

Wood Workshop


We had pre- ordered out chipboard board to to be able to get all of our chair pieces cut out. Above we cut out the pieces we needed using the CNC cutter and sanded them down to make sure all the rough edges were gone. We also cut out the extra supports needed for the base and top of the chairs.
